Message from the Director: The director of Serendipity Dance, Melisa Jensen, has danced, performed and choreographed for 23 years. She has been trained in many forms of dance and recently completed a baccalaureate degree in Exercise Science. Experienced instructors work to ensure that each dancer is taught proper technique and receives personal attention Students will be taught proper technique and core strength will be developed throughout the classes to help prevent injury, help posture and improve fitness. Students will be expected to practice outside of class time in order to develop technique and confidence enabling dancers to fully enjoy their experiences. |

Expressive Movement I & II(ages 3-4) EM I is for 3 year olds. EM II is for 4 year olds. This class is an introduction to movement, music, rhythm and theatre arts. Children will discover and build their self-expression through imagination, improvisation, and the use of costumes and props. Company 1(ages 5-6 with no/little experience) Ballet - This class is designed to help the student gain confidence and start to perform entry level ballet steps as well as patterns across the floor.This will prepare their mind and body to continue dance instruction. Company 2 (ages 6-7 with some experience)Ballet & Jazz - This class acquaints children with the basic concepts of ballet and jazz techniques. It is designed to help children further hear and recognize rhythms, understand body awareness, and memorize choreography. |

Competition Classes: Students will have many opportunities to work as team members together. They will have the option to participate in fundraisers and parades. Opportunities to perform during dance invitational, a USU basketball half times, competitions and two recitals are designed to not only develop the students talents as dancers but to also build life skills and confidence. |
Company 3 (ages 7-9 with 2yrs experience) Ballet & Jazz - This class acquaints children with the basic concepts of ballet and jazz techniques. It is designed to help children further hear and recognize rhythms, understand body awareness, and memorize choreography. Company 4 (ages 10-13) Beginning/ Intermediate Ballet &Jazz - This is a beginning performance class, where dancers will learn to incorporate showmanship and feeling of challenging and fun choreography. Pre-Elite/Supreme Dancers Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical & Hip-Hop - This is a performance class, where dancers will learn to incorporate showmanship and feeling to challenging and fun choreography. This class will focus on technique and performance; dancers will perform at invitationals and competitions. Elite Company by invatation only competition class Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop & Lyrical - This class will refine basic ballet and jazz technique as the students advance in their performance skill level. Due to the increased focus on correct technique and body placement students will need to be willing to push themselves to their personal best. Elite Point by audition only, students will incorporate their ballet technique as they master steps in pointe. All age levels are determined by the child's age at the time of registration. The student must be at least three years old to register. |
