Group Fitness classes through Smithfield Recreation are a great way to stay in shape, make new friends, and stay motivated. We offer a large variety of classes that are designed for all fitness levels. Join a welcoming and supportive group that wants to see you succeed.

Class Descriptions


Aerobics/Yoga/Dance

ACCELERATION

Using innovative exercises to improve core, balance, strength, and muscle tone. Each session includes a twist of sport conditioning! Taught by the Intermountain Sports Performance Training Team.

BOOT CAMP

This circuit training class will challenge the whole body as you use a variety of techniques to improve overall strength and endurance.

CARDIO FUSE

Cardio Fuse blends elements of kickboxing, aerobics, plyometrics, resistance training, and core work. It is essentially a fusion of all your favorite parts of group fitness .

DANCE FIX

A wildly addictive aerobic workout with the latest choreography set to pop and hip-hop music. No dance experience required. Come get your sweaty FIX.

FLOW POWER YOGA*

Power yoga class focused on building muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance by pairing the breath with movement.

GENTLE/CHAIR YOGA**

Joyful movements help us to find strength, mobility, and balance in body and mind. Students follow their innate wisdom finding the right variation. Chairs, straps, and blocks are often used for those who need additional support. 

HIGH FITNESS

HIGH transforms old school aerobics into a highly addictive new fitness experience that combines simple, modern fitness techniques (i.e. HIIT, plyometrics, etc.) with music you know and love.

HIIT

Cardio training that incorporates short, very high intensity intervals with longer, slower intervals to recover. Improves performance while building muscle to burn fat.

MUSCLE MANIA*

Tone and define your body with a variety of moves using surfboards, body bands, weights and kickboxing. Shake up the way you use your muscles and get the small muscle groups involved in your workout. Learn how to internally contract to make your effort maximized.

PUMP

Get weight room results in a group format! Pump will give you the moves, music, and motivation to get strong, toned, and lean as you work all the major muscle groups in one efficient class.

SILVER CIRCUIT**

Silver Circuit teaches you to use light weights, bands, and body weight to increase your strength. Varied movements from a sitting and standing position will be taught, allowing many to improve muscle conditioning in differing health circumstances.

SURGE STRENGTH

Combines functional and isolated weight training, using dumbbells and your own body weight, with a full-body workout that enhances strength and definition of every muscle group leaving you feeling energized and empowered.

TONE & DEFINE*

Boost your metabolism while reshaping your body with this strength training class. Class will use body bars, free weights and/or body balls.

UPBEAT BARRE*

UpBeat Barre is a muscular endurance-based workout that fuses strength training, ballet, yoga, and Pilates to popular music to create a sweaty, fun, and balanced workout with varying levels of intensity designed to include everyone.

UPBEAT LIFT*

Combines pure strength SUPERSET with progressive overload endurance training, isolating muscle groups and working to failure with heavy weights, then working to build endurance in drop-sets.

YOGA ENERGY AND BALANCE*

Breathe, stretch and perform yoga poses that will balance your body rhythms and create a calm that will energize you throughout the day!

Spin Classes

ENDURANCE RIDE

This flat road format will build cardiovascular endurance while burning fat. Get your heart rate in the aerobic zone and keep it there.

INTERVAL RIDE

Cross train while you spin down flat roads. Take a few jumps and roll over hills. An all terrain workout that will challenge your heart rate.

Cycling bike pedals will allow clips or non-clip (gym) shoes. Please bring a towel.

*Free child care is available for the 8:30 am classes. Mondays at 11:30 am are also available for patron use in the Cardio or Weight Rooms.
